Wrong Way Accident Ends with One Dead, One Injured

According to news reports, the surviving driver of the Salado, Texas crash was taken to Baylor Scott & White for treatment.

February 18, 2019 – 10:00 pm: An accident took place on Monday night, killing one driver and injuring the other after a wrong-way collision on the interstate in Salado.

The crash took place on the southbound lanes of Interstate 35, near exit 286.

One driver was headed northbound along the southbound lanes, crashing head on into another vehicle. The wrong-way driver was killed, while the other driver was taken to Baylor Scott & White for undisclosed injuries.

The crash took place shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Monday, and lane closures on southbound Interstate 35 continued until about 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Preliminary investigation and cleanup of the site took place during this time.

Police have not commented on why the driver of the wrong-way vehicle was headed the wrong way at the time of the crash.

Neither of the individuals involved in the crash has been publicly identified at this time. Investigation into the accident is ongoing, and police will release more information about the crash as soon as it becomes available.
