Two Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident

March 30, 2019

According to recent reports, residents in the area of the accident have demanded change in the wake of last month’s accident.

March 30, 2019 – 9:30 pm: Lesha Adams and a man in a wheelchair were killed while crossing the street at the end of March. The driver who hit them reportedly turned herself in about an hour after the accident.

The accident happened on the 900 block of Shepherd. Adams was reportedly helping the man in the wheelchair to cross the street when they were both hit by a Chevy Cruze. Adams and the man were both taken to local hospitals, where they were pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver showed no signs of intoxication when she turned herself in.

Michelle Colvard, Adams’ neighbor, uses a wheelchair as part of her everyday life. She believes the city does not take adequate care for residents who use wheelchairs. She said, “I’ve seen so many dangerous situations like this. I’ve been in a lot of dangerous situations as well and I don’t feel like the city responds appropriately.”

Lesha Adams was laid to rest on Friday, April 5. The accident is still under investigation at the present time.
