Two Drivers Killed in Wrong-Way Crash in Irving

According to news reports, drivers in the area were advised to take an alternate route as of 6:31 a.m. on Monday morning.

February 25, 2019 – 4:30 am: Two drivers were killed in a wrong-way crash that took place in Irving early on Monday morning. It is currently unknown why the wrong-way driver was headed in the wrong direction.

The crash took place on the westbound lanes of TX-183 at Beltline Road.

Police had received reports about the wrong-way driver and were already responding to the emergency when the crash took place. The wrong-way driver was first spotted at SH-161 and George Bush Turnpike.

Both drivers were killed in the crash, and a passenger in the car that was hit has been taken to Parkland Hospital in critical condition. No one else was injured in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

As of 6:31 a.m. on Monday morning, officials stated that roads would be closed at the crash site for at least another hour. Drivers were encouraged to find an alternate route.
Investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and police will release more information as it becomes available.
