Three Injured in Single-Vehicle Wreck

According to news reports, the driver faces felony charges for intoxication assault after the crash.

 

January 18, 2019 – 10:10 pm: Jarrett Martin, 24, was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash that took place in Polk County on Friday night. Devon Skiles, 18, and Ryan Barnes, 21, both received minor injuries in the crash.

All three men were reportedly intoxicated at the time of the crash. The accident took place on FM 350, just west of FM 3126. They were headed southbound along 350 when the vehicle hit a utility pole, a metal gate, and a fence.

Barnes, the driver, has been charged with third-degree felony intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and Class B misdemeanor making a false report to a peace officer. He is currently being held on a $16,500 bond.

Skiles has been charged with minor consume alcoholic beverage and minor in possession of alcoholic beverage. Both of these are Class C misdemeanors.

Martin was airlifted to a hospital in Houston with serious injuries. His current condition has not been made public at this time. Barnes and Skiles were both treated and released from CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial in Livingston.

Investigation into this crash is ongoing.
