Suspected Gunman Dies in Crash After Fleeing Police

News reports state that the suspect was driving at 120 miles per hour at the time of his crash.

September 28, 2018 – 12:25 am: A suspected gunman died after a long high-speed chase in which he hit a bump and went airborne at 120 miles per hour.

The final crash occurred at Allen Genoa and Spencer in South Houston. The driver hit a bump, causing his car to fly off the road and crash into a used car lot. He was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s identity has not been released, but police report that he was about 25 years old.

Two officers in the chase struck a wooden pole, but fortunately they were not injured.

The chase began when the suspect was involved in a possible drive-by shooting and fled the area. The chase began at 12:25 A.M., and lasted for about 30 minutes. Houston Police Department Sergeant Robert Klementich reports that they began pursuing the man after witnessing him speeding away from the scene of the possible drive-by.

Two vehicles in the used car lot were damaged.

Investigators report that they are going to search the suspect’s vehicle for a firearm.
