According to news reports, the man was skateboarding on the sidewalk when he was struck by a car.
September 28, 2018 – 1:30 am: A skateboarder was struck and killed by a car early on Friday morning in a hit-and-run accident. According to Sgt. Regina Gonzales of the Houston Police Department, it’s likely that the victim was a Walmart employee on his way to or from work.
The accident happened near Northline, on the 5600 block of the North Freeway.
Little is known about the circumstances leading up to the accident, but investigators have been able to piece together an idea of what happened.
The car that hit the man was dark-colored, heading northbound on the service road while the skateboarder was going on the sidewalk. For unknown reasons, the car went out of its lane and hopped onto the sidewalk. That’s when it struck the man on the skateboard.
The car’s driver did not stop at that point, and was gone by the time the police arrived on the scene.
The skateboarder’s identity has not been released at this time, although police report that it’s possible he was a Walmart employee. The accident is still under investigation.
