September 30, 2018

According to police, the cause of the crash remains unknown at this time.

September 30, 2018 – 4:30 am: Alexander Banda, a 17-year-old Houston resident, was driving when he was killed in a single-car accident that left the car’s other occupant seriously injured.

The accident happened early Sunday morning, taking place at the intersection of Hemphill and West Butler streets in South Fort Worth.

For unknown reasons, the car Banda was driving struck a pole at the intersection. The vehicle caught fire as a result of the impact.

When police arrived, Banda was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Reports on the event do not state whether injuries sustained in the impact or the fire were the cause of death.

The passenger (whose identity has not been released at this time) was trapped in the flaming vehicle, but survived. The passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fort Worth police spokesman Buddy Calzada.

The cause of the accident has not been determined yet. Alcohol, fatigue, distraction, and inexperience (in the case of a 17-year-old driver) are frequent causes in this type of accident, but none of these has been confirmed by the ongoing investigation.
