Man Injured after Possibly Running from Police

August 29, 2018

News reports state that the driver was being pulled over for a traffic violation at the time of the accident, but it happened so quickly he may not have been trying to run.

August 29, 2018 – 3:15 am: A man was injured in northeast Houston on Wednesday morning when he appeared to try to flee police near Scarborough Elementary.

The man was being pulled over for a violation on Crosstimbers, at which time he turned onto Lavender and sped off. He quickly lost control of the vehicle, drove into a ditch, hit a wood pole, and eventually came to a stop when his car hit a school fence.

The man was ejected from the car when it hit the fence. He was hospitalized with minor injuries after the impact with the fence, as a result of his not wearing a seatbelt.

Because the accident occurred so quickly after the police tried to pull the man over, it’s unclear whether he was trying to flee or not. Houston Police report that they don’t currently have any clear understanding of why the man might have been running.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.
