Woman Dies in One-Vehicle Rollover Wreck in Jasper County

News reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle was injured, while the passenger was killed in the accident.

September 10, 2018 – 2:15 pm: 89-year-old Mamie Bradford of San Augustine has died as a result of a rollover accident in Jasper County. The driver of the vehicle, Linda Bradford (52), was injured in the accident that killed her passenger.

Linda Bradford was driving a 2016 BMW north on Highway 96, just south of RR 225 on Monday afternoon. A press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety states that rain and wet road conditions caused her to lose control of the vehicle, which rolled over before coming to rest in a ditch.

Mamie Bradford was taken out of the vehicle after the crash and rushed to Jasper Memorial Hospital. Justice of the Peace Ronny Billingsley later pronounced her dead from her injuries at the hospital.

Linda Bradford was first taken to Jasper Memorial with serious injuries, but has since been transferred to a hospital in Houston.

According to the press release, “At this time, DPS cannot confirm the relationship between the occupants of the vehicle.”

The crash is still under investigation at this time.
