According to police reports, the teen driver who hit the pedestrian will not immediately face charges.
October 18, 2018 – 8:15 pm: An unidentified homeless man in his 50s was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Thursday night. The 16-year-old driver of the BMW that hit the man initially fled the scene but returned about an hour later.
According to the driver, he thought he had hit a street sign.
The accident took place on Gessner Road, near Westview Drive. The victim was crossing the street when he was struck by the 16-year-old driver of the BMW.
Police at the scene had very little to go on until the driver returned to the scene. There was nothing but a mirror, a pool of blood, and a pair of shoes in the intersection.
The BMW was dented in the front right bumper, and the windshield had damage from the impact.
Neither the identity of the driver nor that of the victim has been made public at this time. No charges have been filed in this case at the moment.
Houston Police Department Sgt. Robert Klementich reports that the investigation is ongoing, and will be handed over to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
