March 4, 2019 – 5:15 am: One man was killed in a three-car collision that took place early on Monday morning in North Houston. One fatality has been confirmed, and there is no word yet on additional injuries.
The crash took place on the outbound lanes of I-45, near the Shepherd flyover. As of 7:50 a.m. on Monday morning, traffic on the North Freeway has been reduced to one lane. Police expect to be on the scene for several hours as investigation is ongoing.
According to authorities on the scene, a man entering the freeway hit a barrier. After hitting the barrier he lost control of his vehicle, crossing all lanes of traffic. His vehicle was hit by two oncoming cars, killing him on the scene of the accident.
Witnesses on the scene report that it looked like the man’s car had had a blowout, but police have not confirmed these reports.
The identities of those involved in the crash have not been made public, and more information will become available as the investigation continues. Drivers in the area are advised to find alternate routes.
