One Killed in Smith County Crash

According to news reports, the accident took place on Tuesday, but the man did not succumb to his injuries until Thursday.

March 12, 2019 – 8:25 am: Paul James Wade, 47, succumbed to his injuries and died on Thursday after being in a single-vehicle accident that took place on Tuesday morning in Smith County.

The accident happened while Wade was driving northwest in his 2003 Toyota Tacoma on CR 294 in Smith County. The site of the accident was about 2 miles northwest of Arp in Smith County.

For unknown reasons, Wade’s pickup left the roadway on the western side, hitting a tree and flipping over. DPS reports that Wade was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected by the force of the accident.

Wade was taken to Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, and eventually died on Thursday. No one else was injured in Tuesday morning’s accident.

DPS is still not sure why Wade lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway on Tuesday morning. Investigation into the accident is still ongoing. More information will be released to the public as it comes to light.
