One Killed, One Injured in Polk County Crash

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the survivor of the crash has been taken to CHI St. Luke’s for treatment.

April 18, 2019 – 8:00 am: Josey Shutter, 28, was killed in a crash that took place about five miles from Livingston in Polk County. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, 34-year-old Dwayne Boyett, has been taken to CHI St. Luke’s for treatment.

The crash took place on FM 1988, about five miles east of Livingston.

Shutter was driving a 2015 Jeep SUV eastbound at the time of the crash, while Boyett was headed westbound in a 2000 Ford pickup truck. According to the preliminary crash investigation, Shutter was driving at unsafe speeds when her vehicle drifted into the westbound lane.

Shutter was killed in the crash, and Boyett received serious injuries. There is no word on his current condition at this time, although police report that he was taken to CHI St. Luke’s in Livingston to be treated.

The cause of the accident appears to be the speeding, although investigation into the crash is still ongoing and more information could come to light as the investigation proceeds.
