One Killed, One Injured in Crash on Katy Freeway

According to police reports, law enforcement had been trying to pull the car over for speeding, but the driver would not stop.

March 13, 2019 – 11:00 pm: A passenger was killed and a driver was seriously injured when a Mercedes flew over a concrete barrier, dropping onto a Katy Freeway entrance ramp.

The accident happened when the Mercedes was speeding down the Katy Freeway Service Road at the Post Oak intersection. Police were pursuing the driver, who had been speeding at the time of the accident.

According to Houston police Commander Kenneth Campbell, “It was a very, very severe crash.”

The passenger died in the crash, and the driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Campbell states that he doesn’t know what possible charges might be filed against the driver as a result of the incident.

HPD lost the vehicle while in pursuit, but citizens in the area eventually let them know about the crash.

There have been no updates on the condition of the driver, and no indication of what led the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The accident is still under investigation at the present time.
