One Dead, Five Injured in Tyler County Crash

According to news reports, one little girl was killed, and three other children were seriously injured in the accident.

 

November 11, 2018 – 1:00 pm: The 9-year-old Leah Miller, of Arp, was killed in a two-car collision that took place Sunday afternoon in Tyler.

The accident took place near the intersection of Toll 49 and Farm-to-Market Road 2493 (Old Jacksonville Highway).

According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Valerie Miller, 34, was driving westbound on Toll 49 in a 2017 GMC Denali, carrying four children in her vehicle at the time. William Pritchard, 29, was driving a 2008 Ford Escape eastbound on Toll 49.

For unknown reasons, Miller’s vehicle swerved into the eastbound lane and hit Pritchard’s vehicle head-on.

Miller and Pritchard were both seriously injured in the accident and taken to UT Health Tyler. Three of the girls in the car — 10, 8, and 4 years old — were also taken to UT Health Tyler in serious condition.

Leah Miller was pronounced dead on the scene and taken to Lighthouse Professional Mortuary in Tyler.

All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The cause of the accident is not known at this time. The accident is still under investigation at this time.
