Motorcyclist Killed in Crash With Metro Bus

According to reports, the identity of the motorcyclist was not publicly released until Thursday morning.

April 15, 2019 – 3:00 pm: Dionisios Vythoulkas, 31, was killed almost instantly after being hit by a bus while driving his motorcycle on Monday afternoon in the Galleria area. Houston Police are still working to determine who was at fault in the crash.

The accident took place at the intersection of North Post Oak and Woodway.

The bus was making a turn from eastbound Woodway onto North Post Oak, pulling in front of the bike. The motorcyclist died almost instantly, and the motorcycle caught fire. The fire was quickly put out by the Houston Fire Department.

It is not clear at this time which of the vehicles had the right of way at the time of the crash. The bus was in the left turn lane, and it is unclear whether the traffic light was showing the green arrow or solid green at the time of the crash.

Police are still investigating the accident, and it is not clear at this time if the METRO driver will face any disciplinary action or legal consequences in connection with the crash.
