According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 49-year-old man died at the scene of the accident.
March 25, 2019 – 8:00 pm: The 49-year-old Haskel Rouse of Mathis, Texas, was killed in a motorcycle crash that took place about five miles north of Mathis on Monday night. Police report that the driver of the tractor trailer Rouse hit was not injured in the accident.
The crash took place at the intersection of FM 888 and the I-37 frontage road in Live Oak County.
The tractor-trailer was headed northbound on the I-37 frontage road when Rouse approached, travelling eastbound on FM 888. The driver to the tractor trailer did not stop, and Rouse was unable to stop before hitting the trailer.
Rouse was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The accident took place on Monday, but Rouse’s identity was not made public until Tuesday evening. Investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety confirm that the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash.
It is unknown at this time whether there will be any charges or citations in connection with the crash. DPS is still investigating the accident.
