August 30, 2018

According to investigators, the driver is believed to have fled police because the motorcycle was stolen.

August 30, 2018 – 11:00 am: A motorcyclist fell from an overpass and died after crashing into the side wall while fleeing the police on Friday morning.

Police first became aware of the man when he was found driving 86 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone. The motorcyclist was pulled over and briefly came to a stop before fleeing.

The man was first stopped in Downtown Houston, and after he fled he reached the Eastex Freeway. The motorcycle was headed for the North Loop exit ramp when the motorcyclist lost control and hit the wall of the ramp.

The man was thrown from the motorcycle and fell about 30 feet onto a grassy area below the overpass. He was taken to a hospital after the crash and died of his injuries shortly afterward.

The man’s identity has not yet been released. Investigators believe the motorcycle was stolen, and this was the reason the man chose to evade the police when he was first pulled over.

Investigators closed down a few lanes of the freeway and exit ramp while going over the site of the accident.
