Mission, Texas Resident Killed in Wednesday Morning Crash

According to news reports, the pedestrian was struck when he failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.

February 27, 2019 – 3:03 am: Jacobo Camacho, 34, was hit and killed while crossing the street in Mission, Texas early on Wednesday morning. The driver of the 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 that hit him was not injured in the accident.

The accident took place at FM 2221 and Brushline Road, a short distance north of Mission. According to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Camacho was struck after failing to yield the right of way to the oncoming Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Dodge has not been publicly identified. He was headed eastbound on FM 2221 at the time of the crash. Camacho was taken to Mission Regional Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival on the scene.

DPS troopers are still investigating the crash. There is no comment on whether there will be any charges filed as a result of the accident, although this seems unlikely considering that Camacho failed to yield the right of way.

DPS will continue investigating the crash and will release further information as it becomes available.
