According to news reports, the bus driver has been charged with criminal negligent homicide after the woman’s death.

October 31, 2018 – 7:00 am: An unidentified woman was killed while crossing the street Wednesday morning after being hit by a METRO bus near the Northwest Medical Center.

The accident happened at the intersection of Peakwood and Red Oak Drive.

The woman had just gotten off of one METRO bus and was crossing the street when another bus hit her. The driver of the bus, 58-year-old Octavio Martinez, has been charged with criminal negligent homicide after the accident.

The woman’s identity has not been released, but a tweet from ABC13 states that she was a cook at the Little Stars Academy, a nearby Cypress Creek daycare.

An unidentified witness said that the driver claimed he was behind schedule and didn’t see the woman before hitting her. The witness said, “Of course, you aren’t going to see her, the street is dark. That’s not her problem the street is dark. You’re behind schedule, that’s not her fault you’re behind schedule.”

A representative from METRO was unable to confirm or deny that the bus was running late at the time of the accident. The event is still under investigation at this time.
