Man Struck on Southwest Freeway While Repairing Vehicle

News reports state that the man was beside his stationary vehicle by the side of the road when he was struck and seriously injured in the leg.

October 1, 2018 – 5:30 pm: An as-yet unidentified man was struck by the side of the road, causing major damage to one of his legs. The man was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by helicopter, and authorities do not currently know his condition.

The accident took place on Monday afternoon, on the 13000 block of 1-69, or U.S. 59 northbound.

The driver was standing outside of his vehicle, working on repairs. Police are not certain what was wrong with the man’s car. Several vehicles were involved in the crash, which took place in a high-traffic area of the highway.

According to A.J. Tyler, a Stafford Police Department spokesperson, the man “was struck and ultimately sent over the guardrail and off the overpass onto the grassy area below.”

Police advise everyone that if you are stranded on the highway, this is always a potentially dangerous situation. You are advised to call a tow truck and the police department to get your vehicle out of the path of traffic.

This accident is still under investigation.
