Driver Kills Homeless Woman While Fleeing Police

According to news reports, the driver appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the accident.

October 7, 2018 – 6:00 am: An unidentified homeless woman was killed Sunday morning when a driver hit the traffic control box she was sleeping in front of.

The accident happened at the 13100 block of Interstate 45 at Rankin Road. The driver, Julian Marcelino Sosa, was being pursued by a Harris County Deputy Constable at the time the woman was hit.

Police had originally tried to pull Sosa over for speeding, but instead he chose to flee the police. The 22-year-old Sosa was driving a Cadillac CT at the time.

The 34-year-old woman died of her injuries at a local hospital. Sosa tried to flee on foot after the accident, but he was soon caught and arrested. According to police, marijuana and a handgun were both found in Sosa’s vehicle. They also report that Sosa appeared to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

Sosa is currently being held at the Harris County Jail and faces a felony murder charge and a felony charge for possession of a weapon. A judge has set his bail at $1 million.
