Galveston Teen Injured in Golf Cart Accident

According to the Galveston Police Department, there is no suspicion that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

March 13, 2019 – 4:00 pm: A 19-year-old man experienced a serious head injury in Galveston on Wednesday afternoon when the golf cart he was driving flipped. News reports state that a second teenager was in the cart at the time and suffered minor injuries.

The accident happened on a West End beach, which Galveston Police identified as Terramar Beach.

According to Capt. Joshua Schirard of the Galveston Police Department, the accident happened when the golf cart flipped over while the driver was trying to make a turn. Reports state that the man’s head injuries were serious, but there have been no updates on his condition since the time of the accident.

The young man was taken to a University of Texas Medical Branch hospital to be treated. There is no word on the condition of the other teen.

Police report that the teenager appears to have been a legal driver and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident. Galveston Police are still investigating the crash, and more information will be released to the public as it becomes available.
