According to news reports, the accident may have been caused when the driver of one of the vehicles fell asleep at the wheel.
September 5, 2018 – 6:30 pm: Four people were hospitalized Thursday evening after two vehicles collided in the 3300 block of Stillhouse Lake Road in Harker Heights. At this time, the hospital has not offered information on their condition.
Preliminary police investigations determined that a Hyundai Sonata headed northbound on Stillhouse Lake Road drifted from its lane, into the path of a southbound Toyota Corolla. The police reports speculate, but do not confirm, that the driver of the Sonata may have fallen asleep at the wheel before the accident.
The Corolla’s driver was flown from the scene and taken to the Scott & White Medical Center in Temple. The driver of the Sonata, a passenger from the Sonata, and a passenger from the Toyota were all taken to hospital by ambulance.
Aside from the fact that one of the injured individuals was flown from the scene while the others were driven, there is no indication at this time regarding the condition of the individuals involved in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
