According to preliminary reports, the pilot flying the plane was not rated for the model he was operating.
March 9, 2019 – 7:00 pm: Four people were killed in a crash that took place in east Texas a few weeks ago. The dead included William Robert Kendrick, the 51-year-old pilot, Rebecca Marsh Kendrick, 47, Kaycee Ann Kendrick, 27, and Coty Ray Shrum, 25.
The crash took place outside Hallsville, Texas, in Harrison County. William Kendrick was flying a Cessna T337C from Dallas to New Orleans at the time of the crash.
All four of the people on board the Cessna were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Representatives from the Texas Department of Public Safety report that the plane may have ran into severe weather and gone down in a wooded area. Light thunderstorms were reported in the area at the time of the crash.
Another possible factor is the fact that that the pilot, William Kendrick, was only qualified to fly single-engine aircraft, while the Cessna T337C is a twin-engine airplane.
An autopsy was performed in order to check the pilot for toxicological samples. Investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and more information will be released as it comes to light.
