Man Dies in Westheimer Parking Lot Crash

According to news reports, the man may have been suffering some form of medical episode, leading to the crash in the parking lot.

November 14, 2018 – 2:00 pm: An unidentified 50-year-old man died in a crash that took place in the parking lot at 5002 Westheimer on Wednesday afternoon. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is holding the man’s identity, pending notification of his family members.

The man was driving a gray Toyota Highlander in the parking lot at the time of the crash. Police have reason to believe the man was suffering some form of medical episode, leading to his loss of control of the vehicle.

According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sgt. F. Briones and Officer M. Mathews, the Highlander hit a silver Nissan Sentra in the crash. Fortunately, no one was in the Sentra at the time, and damage to the vehicle was minimal.

The driver was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Reports do not indicate what type of medical episode the man was allegedly suffering at the time of the crash, and the cause of death has not yet been publicly announced. The investigation into this accident is still ongoing.
