20 Passengers Injured in El Paso Bus Accident

News reports state that the charter bus ran off the road just southeast of El Paso, but the cause of the accident is unknown at this point.

September 13, 2018 – 6:20 am: Twenty people were injured Thursday morning when a bus crashed into a barrier at the end of a frontage road off Interstate 10. The bus involved belonged to Misioneros Bus Line, based in El Paso.

The accident happened near the town of Tornillo, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Elizabeth Carter. The bus should have turned off the frontage road onto the westbound lane of I-10, but instead kept going until it hit the barrier.

Of the charter bus’s 25 passengers, 20 of them were taken to El Paso hospitals with minor injuries. None of the injuries are life-threatening, and there were no fatalities in the crash.

The identity of the driver and those of the injured individuals have not been made public at this time.

The DPS spokeswoman said the accident is still under investigation, as it is still unclear why the driver failed to turn off onto the interstate. There is currently no word on whether or not charges will be filed in the case.
