Corpus Christi Driver Critically Injured in Crash with Power Pole

According to news reports, the impact broke the power pole and disrupted electricity in Corpus Christi’s southside for several hours.

February 20, 2019 – 2:00 am: A driver was critically injured after crashing into a power pole very early on Wednesday morning in Corpus Christi, Texas. As of 5:16 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, the driver remained in critical condition.

The crash took place near the intersection of Holly and Airline roads. According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the pole while driving on Airline Road.
The force of the impact ejected the driver from the vehicle. He was thrown out into the middle of the street.

At this time, police are not sure if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Given the time of the crash and the circumstances leading up to it, intoxication seems to be a major possibility. But there is no clear evidence at this time that the driver was drunk.

Some residents in the southside of Corpus Christi lost electrical power for a while on Wednesday morning, but it was restored by the afternoon.
The crash is still under investigation at this time.
