DPS Trooper Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash

According to news reports, the trooper was struck while performing a traffic stop by the side of the highway.

March 13, 2019 – 1:00 am: A trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety was injured in a hit-and-run collision that took place in Sugar Land. He was hit very early on Wednesday morning and is currently in stable condition.

The trooper was performing a traffic stop on US Highway 59 in Sugar Land at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident after hitting the trooper.

The trooper was taken to the hospital and is recovering. The driver who hit him has been tracked down and arrested since the accident took place.

Neither the trooper nor the driver who hit him has been publicly identified at this time. DPS has not commented on the charges that the driver will face as a result of the accident.

Police do not comment on what the officer was stopping the original vehicle for during the traffic stop that led up to the crash.

The accident is still under investigation at this time. Police will release more information as it becomes available.
