One Killed, One Injured after Driver Runs Red Light

According to news reports, both drivers involved in the crash are being checked for any signs of intoxication or impairment.

November 5, 2018 – 1:30 am: One man is dead and a woman is being treated for minor injuries after a collision that happened early Monday morning after a driver ran a red light.

The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 6 and Westheimer in west Houston. The police report that the man was headed southbound on Highway 6 in a black vehicle, while the woman was headed westbound on Westheimer in a red SUV.

One of the drivers ran a red light, although at this time it is unclear which. Houston Police Department officers are working to resolve this question as part of their investigation.

After one of the drivers ran the red light, the woman’s SUV T-boned the man’s vehicle. He was seriously injured in the crash, while she received only minor injuries. Both of them were taken to the Southwest Memorial Hospital.

The man later died in the hospital, while the woman checked out of the hospital a few hours later. HPD officers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
