September 12, 2018 – 2:00 pm: David Davis, a longtime television news anchor for San Diego’s KUSI, died in a motorcycle accident outside Dallas on Wednesday afternoon.

Davis was on a cross-country motorcycle trip on his Harley-Davidson, taking part in Harley-Davidson’s 115th anniversary celebration. He had begun the trip in August, starting with a visit to Milwaukee, where he had at one time been an anchor for WISN.

Over his long career, Davis had worked as an anchor for four different channels, including WISN in Milwaukee, KATV in Little Rock, and KREX-TV in Colorado. The bulk of his career was the 15 years he spent with KUSI in San Diego, starting in January 2003 and retiring near the beginning of this year.

Some of Davis’s most recognized work involved spot coverage of the Jeffrey Dahmer capture and week-long coverage of 9/11 in 2001.

A statement from KUSI read that “David Davis was a consummate news professional and devoted family man with an adventurous streak who never gave up the quest to take the road less traveled.”
