One Killed, Five Injured in Dallas Building Collapse

According to a spokesperson from Dallas Fire-Rescue, the building was under construction when it collapsed around the construction workers.

October 8, 2018 – 4:30 pm: One person was killed and five others were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries following the collapse of a townhome that was under construction.

The collapse took place in Dallas, on the 2600 block of Borger Street, west of Trinity Groves and downtown Dallas.

There were about 25 to 30 construction workers in the area of the townhouse when it collapsed, and six workers were trapped inside the collapsed building when it went down. The cause of the collapse is unknown at this time.

Officials with Dallas Fire-Rescue originally estimated that there were only three workers trapped in the building, although it turned out that there were a total of six. Five of them were hospitalized, and the last one was found dead.

According to Jason Evans from Dallas Fire-Rescue, “Cadaver dogs were used to help conduct a secondary search and determined that there was no one else inside the debris.”

The identities of the victims have not been made public at this time. The cause of the collapse is not known at this time.
