Houston Woman Killed in Crash South of Seminole

According to news reports, the accident took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 23rd, but details were not made public until Thursday.

 

October 23, 2018 – 6:00 am: The 29-year-old Kellie N. McEvoy, of Houston, was killed in a three-vehicle wreck 10 miles south of Seminole on Tuesday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and three others were hospitalized with non-incapacitating injuries.

The accident took place while McEvoy was driving north on FM 1788. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, she tried to pass a tractor-trailer and hit a southbound pickup truck head-on. Crash debris broke the windshield of the 18-wheeler, injuring the driver in the process.

McEvoy died in the accident, while the driver of the tractor-trailer, the driver of the pickup, and a passenger in the pickup were injured. Oscar Chavez-Anchondo, 33, of Hobbs, Eric G. Mendoza, 33, and Anthony Billings, 62, of Gardendale, were all taken to Seminole Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

DPS does not know the cause of the accident for certain, although they note that road conditions were wet and there was fog on the roads Tuesday morning. The accident is still under investigation.
