Child Hit by Police Car in Front of Watkins Middle School

According to news reports, the trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety was visiting Lieder Elementary School when he hit a middle school student.

September 24, 2018 – 3:52 pm: A Watkins Middle School student was struck by a DPS patrol vehicle and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The accident took place while the trooper was driving southbound on Cairnvillage Drive. This is right in front of Watkins Middle School, which is next door to Lieder Elementary School. The accident happened in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD area of northwest Houston.

The DPS trooper was on a visit to Lieder Elementary when the accident took place.

According to a representative from DPS, the child ran past several cars stopped at a red light, and out in front of the patrol car.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and there is no word at this time about the child’s current condition and injuries. According to one report, however, we know that the child’s injuries are not life-threatening. Several witnesses to the accident are still being interviewed.

The identities of the state trooper and the child involved have not been released at this time.
