Boy Hit by Car in Southeast Houston

According to witnesses on the scene, the driver of the vehicle did not see the child until it was too late to avoid hitting him.

September 26, 2018 – 7:30 pm: A 12-year-old boy received non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening when he was hit by a car in southeast Houston

The accident occurred at the intersection of Telephone Road and Bellfort.

The driver of a Ford Fusion was making a turn when it happened, and did not see the child until it was too late. According to the Houston Police Department, the boy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As you’d expect, accidents where pedestrians are struck by vehicles tend to cause serious injuries to the pedestrian. In 2017, out of 5,767 accidents involving pedestrians in Texas, nearly one in three ended in death or serious injury.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time, and it is unknown whether any charges will be filed against the driver of the Ford. The accident is currently still under investigation.

Neither the identity of the boy nor that of the driver has been released to the public at this time.
