October 24, 2018

According to news reports, two 18-wheelers crashed, leading to an injury to one driver and a hazmat spill that took hours to clean up.

October 24, 2018 – 9:00 pm: One driver was injured in a crash that took place on I-45 Wednesday night, leading to a hazmat spill that was only made worse by the rainy conditions.

The accident took place on the northbound part of Interstate 45 near Research Forest Drive.

The two trucks crashed around 9:00 P.M. One of the vehicles was trailing two trailers, and one of the trailers rolled over. This trailer spilled motor oil across the highway.

Because of rainy conditions, the oil spill spread across the northbound lanes of I-45, closing the freeway for hours while hazmat teams worked to clean up the spill

One of the drivers has been hospitalized. His identity has not been released at this time, and his condition has not been made public either.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. Whether rainy conditions, driver error, or some other as-yet-unknown factor caused the wreck has not yet been discovered. Investigators are working on the case at this time.
