18-Wheeler Driver Killed in Waller County Crash

According to news reports, the driver was ejected from his vehicle after hitting a concrete barrier on Friday afternoon.

 

February 1, 2019 – 2:30 pm: The unidentified driver of an 18-wheeler was killed after a crash that took place on Interstate 10 in Waller County on Friday afternoon. No one else was hurt in the crash. Eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed while cleanup and investigation were underway.

The accident happened while the big rig was headed eastbound on the interstate, near Peach Ridge Road.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Stephen Woodard reports that the driver hit the concrete barrier on the right side of the highway. He was ejected from his vehicle and was killed by the force of the crash. Woodard reports that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The cause of the crash is not clear at this time. Investigators and cleanup crews closed down the eastbound lanes of the road for some time after the crash.

The identity of the driver has not been made public at this time. It is unknown why he hit the barrier or whether he was secured with a seat belt. The accident is still currently under investigation.
