Woman Killed in 18-Wheeler Crash in San Marcos

October 11, 2018

According to news reports, the accident closed two lanes of Interstate 35 for about six hours after the time of the accident.

October 11, 2018 – The 22-year-old Jayde Nicole Sherbert of San Marcos died late Thursday night when her vehicle hit the rear end of an 18-wheeler. Sherbert was the only occupant of her vehicle at the time of the crash.

The accident took place on I-35, in the northbound lanes near State Highway 123.

Sherbert, who was a former student of Texas State University, died in the crash, but the driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured. No one else was involved in the accident.

Authorities are uncertain of the causes of the crash at this time, although a representative of San Marcos said they believe Sherbert was texting on her phone just before it happened. Driving too fast for conditions may also have been a factor, as investigators state that traffic in the area was slowed because of road work in the area.

Traffic was blocked in two of the northbound lanes of I-35 until around 4:30 AM on Friday morning, because of cleanup efforts and investigation into the cause of the accident.
