Pedestrian Injured in Humble, Texas Accident

February 24, 2019 – 12:00 am: An unidentified pedestrian was struck by a car in Humble, Texas on Sunday. The driver was Loyd Nelson, 48, who has been arrested and faces charges for intoxication assault with a motor vehicle.

The accident took place on the 20100 block of Kenswick Drive. Nelson reportedly ran a stop sign and hit a pedestrian who was on the crosswalk.

The pedestrian has not been identified at this time, and their condition has not been made public.

Nelson has a history of DWI convictions, and Harris County Deputies confirmed that his vehicle was equipped with an ignition interlock device. This device is meant to prevent a drunk driver from being able to start a vehicle. Deputies are not sure how Nelson managed to bypass the ignition interlock and start his vehicle when intoxicated.

Nelson is being held in the Harris County Jail and faces charges of intoxication assault. His bail is currently set at $30,000.
