According to news reports, one man was killed and another was injured in the two-vehicle accident.
February 19, 2019 – 12:00 pm: The 53-year-old Billy Buck Pierce was killed, and the 28-year-old Jordan Pierce was injured in a crash that took place in Cass County on Tuesday. As of 9:35 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Jordan Pierce remained in stable condition.
The crash took place on US 59, just north of Linden. Billy Buck and Jordan Pierce were headed southbound when they hit a northbound semi-truck head-on.
The driver of the truck, 48-year-old Dametrich Evans, was unable to avoid the crash. He was not injured in the accident.
Jordan Pierce was taken to the hospital in stable condition, while Billy Buck Pierce was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
According to the police report, the road conditions were wet at the time of the accident. This could have been a potential cause of the crash, or at least a factor involved.
DPS is still investigating the cause of the accident at this time. It is still uncertain what led to the crash, but police will release more information as it becomes available.
