According to news reports, the dead man failed to yield the right of way to the vehicle that hit him.
September 20, 2018 – 9:00 am: 57-year-old Mario Saenz of Anthony, New Mexico, was killed on Thursday morning
The accident took place on the 9400 block of Gateway North, near Diana Drive in El Paso.
Saenz, who was riding a Wolf motor scooter, failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that hit him was 19-year-old Zeus Woods of Fort Bliss.
Saenz was thrown from his scooter and suffered serious injuries in multiple locations as a result of the impact. Woods was not injured in the accident.
Saenz was taken to the hospital after the accident and later died there.
All lanes of the gateway were closed between Diana and the EPCC Transmountain campus for about three hours after the crash.
The accident is still under investigation at this time. No charges have been filed.
